Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is transmitted to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. Lincoln County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the site's operating team unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, the site's systems automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates, times, and visit duration
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
- Pages opened during the visit
- A referring website, when one supplied the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They help show aggregate patterns, such as which pages draw traffic and where visits end. Analytics providers assist with that measurement. A visitor can block cookies through browser controls, although disabling them may change how some features work.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Lincoln County Criminal History does not compile, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies how records may be requested from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, local courts, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that partner's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each company sets its own rules for retention, use, and disclosure. Review those terms before entering a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court systems, Tennessee agencies, legal resources, or outside search providers. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Check it before supplying personal information.
Some advertising companies may use activity across websites to select ads. That processing occurs through the advertiser's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be received by:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and technical performance
- Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
- Advertising networks serving material on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal demand
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for collected information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so the site cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under age 18. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may create additional rights. Tennessee's Public Records Act, T.C.A. §§10-7-501 through 10-7-507, governs public records held by government offices, while T.C.A. §10-7-504 protects specified confidential categories. Those public-agency laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. A visitor may still:
- Request access to personal information maintained about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Seek deletion of personal data where applicable
- Object to certain processing where the law provides that choice
